New iPhone 6s ads tout performance features and always on ‘Hey Siri’

Apple has debuted the company’s latest ads on their YouTube channel, promoting some of the features of the recently released iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. The two ads entitled “Hey Siri” and “Ridiculously Powerful” focus on, as you would expect, the iOS 9 Siri functionality as well as the improved hardware capabilities that iPhone 6s and 6s Plus users can enjoy.

“Hey Siri”

The “Hey Siri” ad focuses on the Siri functionality and her ability to have the answer to just about everything. The ad features various iPhone 6s users making use of the Siri functionality. From helping actress Penelope Cruz solve a crossword clue, playing a favorite song on a road trip or getting restaurant recommendations. Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus users get to enjoy the always-on Siri feature, which relies on the M9 motion compressor that will constantly monitor background noise to pick up the user-specific voice trigger.

“Ridiculously Powerful”

Apple’s second ad is a 1-minute montage of the improved performance of both the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. The “Ridiculously Powerful” ad highlights Apple’s own apps like Garageband, as well as a variety of third-party apps.

The ad starts with showing how the A9 chip found in the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus has made everything faster including browsing, messaging, maps and shopping with Apple Pay, among other tasks. The ad includes gamers using the iPhone to compete in ESport tournaments as well as film students making use of the iSight camera for their latest video offerings, which are then presented to actor/director Jon Favreau in his cameo role.

The ad also touches on various other 6s and 6s Plus features like the onboard accelerometer, gyroscope sensors, Bluetooth connectivity, and 3D Touch.

Both ads feature voiceover work by Lake Bell and the tagline “The only thing that’s changed is everything,” which Apple CEO Tim Cook introduced at the launch of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus back in September.

Apple’s latest ads come just a week after the release of their Christmas ad featuring Stevie Wonder, Andra Day and various Apple products, including MacBooks and Apple Watches.
