Where to watch New Year’s Eve live online: Sydney, Dubai, London, New York
It has been a big year in tech in 2015, and if you’re not heading out this evening, what better way to celebrate than to watch New Year’s Eve live online.
There are live streams covering multiple locations across the globe, and if you can’t get enough News Year’s Eve goodness, you can always celebrate it multiple times through the day as midnight crosses the globe from right to left.
Here’s a list of recommended streams that will allow you to watch New Year’s Eve live online.
Sydney
Australia’s most famous New Year’s Eve celebration occurs in the harbor city with a massive fireworks display centered on the Harbor Bridge.
The official event page with live stream is available at here, or an alternative stream is available from Telstra on YouTube here.
It’s not clear whether the stream will be georetarded or not, so if it doesn’t work, fire up a VPN.
The stream is due to start at 8:30 p.m. local time (+11GMT) with fireworks at 9 p.m. and midnight.
Dubai
Celebrations start with a fireworks display on the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, before heading downtown.
The official stream is available here and is said to include the ability to watch the show from three different cameras.
Dubai is +4 GMT.
London
London New Year’s Eve celebrations focus on the London Eye, along with Big Ben “bonging” at midnight.
The London New Year’s Eve live stream is via the BBC one website; it’s not clear, as it is with Sydney, as to whether this will be georetarded on not, so if it doesn’t work, fire up a VPN.
Alternatively, there are a number of London webcams available to watch from anywhere in the world that can be accessed here.
London is 0 GMT, so 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time.
New York
No list of New Year’s Eve live streams would be complete without the inclusion of arguably the most famous celebration of them all: Times Square in New York.
