FordPass launches at Detroit auto show, helps you find parking, book maintenance, receive rewards, more | #NAIAS2016

The Ford Motor Company has launched a smartphone app called FordPass at the 2016 North American International Auto Show, currently underway in Detroit. FordPass is similar to a concierge service and brings together guides, a marketplace, and a rewards program.

FordPass forms part of Ford Smart Mobility, which is the company’s strategic plan to reach the next level in terms of “connectivity, mobility, autonomous vehicles, the customer experience, and data and analytics.”

Regardless of whether you are a Ford vehicle owner or not, you can sign up for the free service, which is officially launching in April. The service will launch first in the U.S. and Canada, followed by Europe, China, and Brazil later in the year.

Here is a brief overview of what the FordPass service will offer its members.

Marketplace

In collaboration with ParkWhiz and Parkopedia, the FordPass will assist you in finding and paying for a parking spot while the company is also working with FlightCar to allow members to borrow or share rides when traveling.

Members can use the company’s virtual wallet, FordPay, to pay for these services. Future planned services also include ride sharing, car sharing, and multimodal transportation, among others.

If you are a Ford vehicle owner, you can also use Marketplace to schedule maintenance with your preferred dealer.

If your vehicle has Ford SYNC Connect you can also use the app to access various vehicle features including remote start, lock and unlock, the location of your vehicle and more.

FordGuides

The FordGuides will be able to provide members with free advice and assistance 24 hours a day. For example, if you are unsure about pre-booking parking, simply press the button and one of the guides will assist you with the process.

Appreciation

FordPass also wants to recognize members who interact with the app with rewards from affinity partners, including McDonalds, 7-Eleven, and more. Completing simple tasks like registering for FordPass, booking parking, or interacting with FordGuides will allow you to start receiving rewards.

FordHubs

FordPass also includes the opening of FordHubs, a place where consumers can gain an understanding of the company’s mobility services, latest innovations as well as the opportunity to gain access to exclusive events.

The first FordHub opens later this year at the Westfield World Trade Center mall in New York City, with FordHubs to follow in San Francisco, London, and Shanghai.
