Management consulting services giant Accenture PLC has entered the cyber intelligence space with the launch of its new Accenture Cyber Intelligence Platform Monday.

The platform, an addition to Accenture’s existing Managed Security offerings, is said to marry advances in chip processor technology with a proprietary combination of artificial intelligence, machine learning and streaming analytics to help organizations identify never before seen, network-born cyber threats in near real-time.

Tracking network flows and DNS data streamed from existing network components, the platform learns, determines, and reports suspicious behaviors attributed to malicious cyber attacks.

Harnessing what Accenture calls its “quick-to-deploy, scalable technologies and new high performance big data-processing power,” the company says the platform gives organizations an unprecedented level of flexibility, and as it is underpinned by Accenture’s as-a-Service capabilities and the Accenture Cloud Platform, it can typically be implemented within one week.

The platform itself features a customized version of Open Network Insight, the open-source solution for open source packet and flow analytics on Hadoop, and Cloudera’s enterprise data hub; Accenture claims that the platform delivers up to a 10-fold increase in processing speeds versus alternative offerings in the space.

“Today’s best network protection devices alone are not enough to challenge the new reality of cyber security,” Accenture Analytics – Security Lead Managing Director Vikram Desai said in a statement sent to SiliconANGLE. “Attackers continue to evolve by leveraging data technology, and clients have urged us, as the leading provider of data science solutions, to help them fight back. Our new Accenture Cyber Intelligence Platform gives them back the upper hand.”

Cloud scaling

While cyber intelligence is a busy space, Accenture’s new Cyber Intelligence Platform, with the support of Cloudera’s enterprise data hub, which can collect and store unlimited data, cost-effectively and reliably, will allow Accenture customers to easily scale the service as needed, while also being able to tap into the complimentary benefits provided by the company’s broader security service professions.

“The Accenture Cyber Intelligence Platform expands Accenture’s end-to-end portfolio of cyber defense services which include strategy, transformation, managed security services, automated threat intelligence, monitoring, advanced analytics and real-world adversary simulations, as well as incident response and remediation,” the company notes. “It represents another step forward in Accenture’s platform-driven, intelligence-based strategy to accelerate its client’s journeys to an as-a-Service business model.”
