Here’s all the interesting Apple product stats from the launch event Monday
Apple, Inc. revealed a slew of new products Monday including the new 4 inch iPhone SE and 9.7 inch iPad Pro, but for long-term watchers of the company the events are significant for another reason: Apple sharing some of its stats data.
With Apple’s 40th birthday due April 1st (certainly not an April fools) the company revealed that there were now a staggering 1 billion active Apple devices globally, covering the full range of Apple products including the iPhone, iPad, iPod, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and its range of computer products including the MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac Mini and Mac Pro.
Those products are also getting more environmentally friendly as well, with 93 percent of Apple facilities now running on renewable energy, with the number increasing to 100 percent in the United States and 23 other countries Apple is present in; in addition 99 percent of Apple product packaging is now made from recycled materials or from sustainably managed products, according to 9to5Mac.
Despite some well noted skepticism into its success, Apple now claims that its Apple Watch is now the top selling smartwatch in the world, and perhaps more interestingly one third of Watch wearers regularly change their bands, providing an ongoing revenue source to Apple after the device itself has been sold.
Perhaps justifying its announcement of the new 9.7 inch iPad Pro, the company revealed that it had now sold 200 million 9.7 inch iPads, proving the concept perhaps that bigger is indeed better.
The 4th generation of the Apple TV, a device once famously described by Steve Jobs as a hobby, has seen the product seriously take-off in popularity, and although Apple didn’t reveal exactly how many they have sold, they did reveal that the new version had the highest sales ever, and that there were now 5000 Apple TV apps available.
4 inch demand
Despite being the baby in the lineup, Apple said that they sold 30 million 4 inch iPhone 5c phones in 2015, demonstrating that there is serious demand for a model with a smaller screen sold at a lower price point.
Early reviews on the device are mixed so far, with some saying it’s a step back to 2012 as the form factor is still identical to the iPhone 5, yet others are saying that “small is the new black” and the phone itself packs a serious punch.
The new 4 inch model, the iPhone SE, will be going on sale in 100 countries by May, and in the United States from March 31.
