A LEAP into the digital transformation | #emcworld
The digital transformation is underway, and companies are looking for ways to make the transition as easy as possible.
Mario Duckett, VP of enterprise content solutions at MetaSource, LLC, sat down to talk with John Furrier (@furrier) and Dave Vellante (@dvellante), cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during EMC World 2016. Duckett talked about the demands he’s seeing from customers and ways his company is helping them.
What customers are looking for digitally
MetaSource has been working with EMC and its predecessors for over 15 years, and the company’s primary focus is on the EMC ApplicationXtender (document management software) and EMC Captiva (document capture software). According to Duckett, most customers are really looking for the basics: how to actually start the digital transformation.
“What we do is we try to focus them on things that can be achieved in the short term,” said Duckett. “Yes, there’s a bigger vision that’s always laid out. But for instance, maybe we go a department at a time instead of the enterprise level.”
More and more customers don’t want to be responsible for day-to-day upkeep of systems, and so MetaSource has changed a lot of how they work in order to accommodate. “We were 10 percent SaaS four years ago, and we’re now 50/50. We’ll see that trend continue,” explained Duckett.
EMC LEAP — Enterprise content management apps
“The millennials want apps, right?” said Duckett — which is another huge demand he’s seeing in customers. One big project at EMC right now is EMC LEAP Courier, which helps with content management apps for companies.
“The pitch is: fast employment, community-based knowledge that they’ll be able to take advantage of without having on in-house expertise,” said Duckett. It’s basically helping companies create “easy-to-use microapps that allow people to ingest and work with the content.”
It’s a mobile world, and everything is going to have to be simple and elegant. “It’s that nimbleness … that quickness to use. And the interface is gorgeous. It’s very intuitive, very simple, and very little training,” said Duckett.
