Who will be players vs. pretenders in the Big Data game? | #infa16

When it comes to Big Data integration, will Informatica Corp. truly take the lead? There are a lot of players out in the field right now, but who will come out on top, and who will fade away as pretenders?

Matt Healey, enterprise software and services analyst at Neuralytix, Inc., spoke with John Furrier (@furrier) and Peter Burris (@plburris), cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during Informatica World 2016.

Players vs. pretenders in Big Data integration

“I think that there is a role for Informatica to play,” said Healey. “But in the market that they’re in, where I think we are right now is, we’re getting through the hype on Big Data and analytics, and we’re at the point where we’re about to split this market.”

The players are about to be separated from the pretenders in Big Data integration, Healey added.

What will distinguish the players?

According to Healey, the players are “going to be the company that can go to the client and say, ‘If you deploy this software, here’s the tangible business results that you’re going to see.'”

Big Data companies will need to be able to show clear results. Customers are wanting to know how their data is truly an asset, and they need Big Data companies that will help them evaluate that.

“Informatica has an opportunity in the thought leadership area to take that step forward,” said Healey. “There needs to be a lot of maturity in that area.”
