Scalability and access control in the cloud | #DockerCon

Scalability is a concern of many companies as their business grows. While it can be argued that it’s a good problem to have, it can cause headaches and cost both time and money. It can take weeks to make transitions, requiring a change at each level of the system.

Aviatrix Systems, Inc. is a startup that has been working with companies to change that and mitigate the disruption that occurs as they scale. They help to grow the environment for the cloud with the company as it grows.

The innovators behind Aviatrix Systems were interviewed on theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during DockerCon 2016 in Seattle, Washington. Steven Mih is the CEO of Aviatrix Systems, and Sherry Wei, founder and CTO of Aviatrix Systems spoke to theCUBE cohosts John Furrier (@furrier) and Brian Gracely (@bgracely).

Cloud-native

“Cloud is a different playground, a different stack” that requires innovation, Wei said.

As part of Aviatrix Systems’ innovation, Mih emphasized the company’s unique focus on building its software expressly to fit each cloud’s specifications. It is cloud-native and not one-size-fits-all, by any means. The company is working on democratizing the network in the cloud.

Access control

In the current state of things, it’s much too easy for those sharing the cloud to accidentally delete each other’s data, or even run up a huge bill without being able to track who caused it. Aviatrix Systems is working to provide a system with improved security pasture and to bring access control that’s completely missing today, said Wei.

As for next year, Mih said the company is working on scaling the organization, and it even launched a new product at the conference. In line with its mission, this new product solves the problem of allowing developers more access.
