How to live stream the Samsung Galaxy Note7 launch event & what to expect

In just over a week, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. will launch its latest flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note7 at its Unpacked event in New York.

The Note7 is the successor to the Note5 (pictured above), the company has skipped over number six in an attempt to align the Note with the current flagships the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. 

We look at how you can live stream the Note7 launch presentation on August 2, as well as the rumored features you can expect to see.

How to watch the Galaxy Note7 event?

The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event will start at 11 am Eastern Daylight Time in New York on Tuesday, August, 2. Simultaneous events will take place in Rio de Janeiro at 12 pm and in London at 4 p.m.

When will the Note7 go on sale?

While there has not been an official announcement from Samsung, its flagship phablet is expected to get a wider global release. One country that could be one of the first to offer the Galaxy Note7 for sale soon after the August 2 event is the United Arab Emirates.

Reports in the media indicate that the unreleased Note7 is already available for pre-order in Dubai, with an initial deposit of $130. The company is also offering a 128 GB MicroSD card with each pre-order in the UAE.

Multiple rumors surrounding the Note7

In the months leading up to the Galaxy Note7 launch, there has been multiple rumors, renders and confirmed reports making the rounds.

Battery

The latest rumor to make the rounds surrounds the Note7’s battery. Prior rumors suggested that the battery would remain the same size as the Galaxy S7 edge at 3,600 mAh or increase to 4,000 mAh. However, the latest rumor to emerge puts the Note7’s battery at a smaller 3,500 mAh.

Iris scanner

Renowned tech leaker, Evan Blass, confirmed that the Note7 would include an iris scanner back in June. While the latest UX interface screenshots to be revealed seem to confirm the iris scanner. The screenshot shows that the new feature will be displayed in Settings > Lock screen and security > Irises is displayed under Fingerprints.

S Pen

In addition to the S Pen being a main focus in the event invite, released screenshots of the S Pen Air Command menu shows a new option called Glance, in addition to the current Screen Write, S Note, Smart Select and Action Memo. The screenshots also show the ability to easily create GIFs and record sections of the screen.

Display, RAM, camera, more

The display will either stick to the current 5.7 inches or increase to 5.8 inches, but regardless of size, it will have a QHD, 2560 x 1440 resolution, and a Super AMOLED panel.

RAM in the Note7 is rumored to be a massive 6 GB, with storage options of 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB and a microSD expansion. The camera for the Note7 is rumored to stick to the same specs as the S7 edge, with a 12 MP front-facing camera and 5 MP rear-facing camera.
