FireEye launches cloud security services for enterprise threat protection

Cybersecurity firm FireEye Inc. has launched a range of new cloud security services that aim to improve on the company’s enterprise threat detection tools.

The new Cloud MVX and MVX Smart Grid deliver the most intelligent threat detection available via public, hybrid or public cloud, the company claims. Both Multi-Vector Virtual Execution engines are aimed at simplifying security for large, distributed enterprises and mid-market organizations at a lower cost by allowing suspect files to be tested in a virtual machine environment, allowing an enterprise to capture the behavior and context of suspicious files to determine whether they are malicious.

The expanded protection integrates with FireEye TAP and HX with the Cloud MVX to enable “third-party alert validation and a richer endpoint security experience,” according to the company.

“MVX Smart Grid and Cloud MVX simplify and expand the protection of the pioneering FireEye MVX engine at lower cost, an innovation that gives a broader set of organizations access to the most intelligent detection anywhere and for any device,” FireEye Chief Technology Officer Grady Summers said in a statement. “The new role-based intelligence provides the simplest way to act on and integrate cyber threat intelligence across security operations.”

Also joining the new product list is FireEye’s iSIGHT Intelligence, a new intelligence delivery model that the company says provides simpler actionable intelligence across all categories of threats through five distinct role-based subscriptions. The new model utilizes machine learning and analytics from the MVX engine to deliver automated threat detection and blocking. FireEye claims that’s missing or is delivered with high false positives by generic sandboxes, endpoint solutions and other products.

MVX Smart Grid and iSIGHT Intelligence is available now, while CloudMVX will be released later this month.
