Amplify Women’s Pitch Night 2016, hosted by Girls in Tech Inc., is taking place today at Galvanize in San Francisco. A global nonprofit organization, Girls in Tech was created to empower, engage and educate women in technology. SiliconANGLE will be at Amplify Women’s Pitch Night 2016 with exclusive interviews from our roving news desk, theCUBE.
The event focuses on 10 female entrepreneurs who will pitch their early-stage technology startup to a panel of technology leaders and investors. Judges include Adeo Ressi, chief executive officer of the Founder Institute Inc.; Debra Chrapaty, chief operating officer for Declara Inc.; Donna Wells, chief executive officer of Mindflash Technologies Inc.; and Elisa Jagerson, chief executive officer and owner of Speck Design Inc.
Other Amplify Women’s Pitch Night judges include Jason Calacanis, serial entrepreneur and blogger; Kira Makagon, executive vice president at RingCentral Inc.; Mara Segal, director of products at Samsung Electronics Co.; and Meera Bhatia, vice president of product management at Stella and Dot LLC.
Adriana Gascoigne (pictured), founder and chief executive officer of Girls in Tech spoke with Jeff Frick, host of theCUBE, at the Girls in Tech Catalyst Conference in May. Gascoigne spoke about the reasons why she decided to start Girls in Tech in 2007 and the significant growth it has seen since then.
“You need many different perspectives and experiences and backgrounds in order to have a comprehensive product,” she said. “So I decided to take matters into my own hands and I started Girls in Tech in 2007, and nine-plus years later we’re in 60 cities around the world and six continents in 36 countries with over 40,000 members. It’s awesome to see the growth.”
