Google Makes Concessions for Street View Debacle

Google’s been under fire for its Street Views data collection methods, with an especially damning backlash in Europe  David Smith, the deputy information commissioner in the UK reportedly reassured that no information collected “accidentally” by Google has been leaked. Moreover, his position seems to protect Google from being fined, because the potential distress caused my collected information has to be firstly verified. He refers to the unintended collection of personal data from wireless networks throughout the world.

This mischievous deed was tracked during a Canadian investigation, which proved that there were serious breaches, including the access to a list of patients with a certain disease.

David Smith, who is in charge of the UK investigations, accepted the fact that there were conducted more basic actions: “We spent less time searching than others did. If we had searched for days and days we would have found more.” Therefore, the conclusion of the ICO audit was that there were “no significant breaches”.

Outsiders consider that the  ICO needs more technical expertise in order to have a professional outcome. The issue of violation of personal data is a serious abjection. While in UK there is no public authority to investigate the interception breaches, Germany waves against Google Street Views.

On the incriminating side, Google assures that it will invest more in the data protection, establishing a new reinforced plan of training the personal dealing with this matter. Moreover, the data collected by Google is going to be deleted in order to calm down the offended spirits.
