EMC Steps Into Mobile Security with SecurID for Android

EMC has just announced the release of new Android security feature in the market. The RSA SecurID Software Token for Android will enable Android devices to utilize the RSA SecurID authenticator and will provide a convenient and cost-efficient mechanism for authentication and resources. EMC is using this to further its position as a world leader in innovative ways to store, protect, optimize and leverage data, delving deep into the mobile security business.

Tim Prendergast, Network Architect at Ingenuity Systems, related the vitality of the newly introduced security feature of EMC made available for Android. He said, “Being able to offer the RSA SecurID tokens to our users on many of the most popular mobile platforms such as Android is a convenient and cost-effective way to deploy strong authentication in our enterprise.

“Deployment on smart phone platforms is done electronically so it’s simple and fast for our IT organization to provision, eliminating any lag time if an end-user needs to get a new token. Our employees love it because the tokens are easily accessed on the mobile devices they already own and carry.”

It is very interesting to note that more and more people are demanding security in their mobile phones. This is evident in the sudden boom of the mobile security market. Just recently is the product launch of Ekahau, an IT firm of an application that is dubbed to propel IT mobile market maturity. This new application was designed to track network’s signal strength data.

Juniper Networks and Rackspace have also involved themselves and their causes for the development of mobile services with their cloud offerings. In a report posted in SiliconAngle, Juniper has built a mobile security feature for iPad. A fresh story of the similar concern mentioned that Rackspace has bolstered services by cloud connect and cloud critical sites.
