O’Reilly Strata Conference: A Data-Centric Expo

The big data story continues at O’Reilly Strata Conference… This time, prime movers (tools, technology and people) of the industry will join forces to gather and shed light on the arrival of Big Data, and how it changes everything. This 3-day event will be held at Santa Clara, California from February 1 until February 3.

Highlights of the event:

Day 1-Data Bootcamp: Joseph Adler (LinkedIn), Hilary Mason (bit.ly), Drew Conway (New York University) and Jake Hofman (Yahoo!) will discuss and elaborate on the science of data and practical application on acquiring, conceptualizing, evaluating and visualizing data.

Day 2- Real World Applications Panel: Machine Learning and Decision Support: Real-world practitioners Alon Halevy (Google), Jonathan Seidman (Orbitz Worldwide), Robert Lancaster (Orbitz Worldwide), Alasdair Allan (University of Exeter) will be touching points on how machines can be utilized influence people to make better decisions.

Day 3-Data Marketplaces: Julie Steele (O’Reilly Media, Inc.), Ian White (Urban Mapping, Inc), Peter Marney (Thomson Reuters), Moe Khosravy (Microsoft) and Dennis Yang (Infochimps) will talk about the burgeoning business of data marketplaces.

Keynotes sessions  will be conducted by Zane Adam, Microsoft Corp , Amber Case, Geoloqi and Alistair Croll, Bitcurrent. It’s a sure fire bet that these folks will be discussing the convergence of big, open data, ubicomp, and new interfaces will change the way humans work, play, learn, and love.
