Cisco Targets Small Businesses with Cost-Saving Switches

California-based Cisco has just launched additional key products that will propel networking, security and storage capabilities of its “Connect” and “Secure” portfolio, targeting small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs). These latest accelerators are expected to support and enable small businesses to quickly, easily and more securely connect employees and devices with the content they need, wherever and whenever they need it.

Following the announcement is an interview with Ian Pennell, co-chair, Small Business Council segment of Cisco. He stressed that while the company is looking into big ventures, Cisco still remains committed to SMBs. Pennell stated, In the spirit of continuous improvement and innovation for our small business partners and customers, we’re very pleased to continue the redesign of our entire small business switching line with the Cisco 200 Series switches. This is yet another strong proof point in Cisco’s ongoing commitment to our small business market adjacency, our partners, and our customers.”

Kristine A. Snow, President of Cisco Capital took charge of making sure that these new options are budget-friendly especially to SMBs. She mentioned, “Cisco Capital is opening its doors to small businesses by making credit available and affordable, with straightforward, flexible leasing options, competitive rates and fast credit processing. These new offers will help small businesses access the credit they need to take advantage of Cisco’s broad portfolio of small business solutions.”

Cisco has been very visible lately, particularly with their release of the survey results that shows demand for mashop experiences. This was further dealt with in SiliconAngle’s report by Krsitina Farrah. They also have predicted that Cisco Videoscape will play a big role in the prediction that some 12 billion devices will be connected to the internet by 2014.

For obvious reasons, Cisco and other large cloud companies definitely need tools for varied sizes of business and go around more economical options.  Majority of the smaller, second tier cloud companies, especially neophytes and startups in the industry will aim to snatch deals with SMBs to gain traction and new users- this goes along with the fact that larger companies (like Cisco) neglect the SMBs.

The Cisco 200 Series Switches list prices start at $287, depending on the model. They are available globally.
