Facebook partners with ZipRecruiter to add better job searches to the social network

Online job recruitment company ZipRecruiter Inc. announced a new partnership with Facebook Inc. today that will integrate ZipRecruiter’s job posting platform with Facebook’s social network.

The new integration allows employers to upload job postings directly to Facebook through the ZipRecruiter Dashboard. Users can fill out the job applications through Facebook, which are funneled back through the ZipRecruiter Dashboard, allowing employers to view all of their applicants in one place.

The partnership shows Facebook is still interested in expanding into the online recruitment market, which is currently dominated by Microsoft Corp.’s LinkedIn. Facebook already boasts a monthly user base of more than 2 billion people, so if the social network’s job search tools ever catch on, it could pose a serious threat to LinkedIn and similar platforms.

“[Facebook’s] new job listing feature makes it easier for businesses to interact with its large user base,” ZipRecruiter said in a statement. “The ZipRecruiter all-in-one dashboard streamlines the hiring process for busy business owners. By combining our powerful technology, we’re changing the way small businesses hire by offering them massively expanded reach for their job listings along with easy to use tools to manage their inbound candidates.”

As for job seekers, the company added, “this integration creates a seamless way for Facebook users to find and apply to jobs quickly and easily—especially candidates who may not be active on online job boards.”

Founded in 2010, ZipRecruiter said it now sends out more than 15 million job alerts each day, and the company claimed that its services have been used by more than 1 million employers to date, with 10,000 new employers subscribing each month. The company’s platform functions as an aggregator of multiple job boards, allowing employers to post their jobs to multiple sites at once.

The integration with ZipRecruiter is not the first time Facebook has added job search features to its platform. In February, Facebook updated its Pages feature to allow businesses to post job openings and take applications from users through their official Facebook page.

At the time, Facebook said some 40 percent of U.S. small businesses report that filling jobs was more difficult than they expected, “which is surprising when you consider that these small businesses also employ nearly half of the country’s workforce.”

Facebook’s partnership with ZipRecruiter does not appear to be exclusive, so the social media giant may still add integration with other job search tools in the future.
