SnapLogic adds new connectors and container support to its integration platform
SnapLogic Inc. is making it easier for enterprises to connect their disparate applications and data sources.
The company, which is eyeing an eventual initial public offering, today launched a new iteration of its flagship integration platform with a host of improvements. The update focuses mainly on expanding SnapLogic’s collection of application connectors. These connectors, which it refers to Snaps, aim to reduce the amount of work involved in linking a company’s systems.
SnapLogic Chief Scientist Greg Benson detailed how they work in an interview on SiliconANGLE’s theCube studio last month (video below). “We provide a graphical interface that lets you drag and drop components that we call Snaps. You can put them together like Lego pieces to define sophisticated tasks so you don’t have to write Java code,” explained Benson, who is also a professor of computer science at UC San Francisco.
Today’s upgrade extends the capabilities of the service through a new integration with Google Inc.’s Apigee Edge offering. As a result, companies can now use the latter tool to manage and monetize application programming interfaces they create in SnapLogic’s platform. These APIs are a handy way of giving developers access to the integration workflows with which a firm connects its disparate systems.
The feature is rolling out alongside new Snaps that will let enterprises link applications with Adobe Systems Inc.’s popular marketing services. SnapLogic has also taken the opportunity to add connectors for SAP SE’s Analytics Cloud.
Topping off the update is an enhancement to Snaplex, the part of the company’s platform responsible for streaming data between interconnected applications. SnapLogic has augmented the mechanism to support Docker containers. The latter technology makes it possible to bundle software into lightweight, resource-efficient packages that can be seamlessly moved between different kinds of infrastructure.
The new release of SnapLogic Enterprise Integration Cloud is available now. It joins SnapLogic eXtreme, an extension the company introduced earlier this month for porting integration workflows to Apache Spark, the widely used data processing framework.
