Radley + Co Bags Big Data Back-up with FalconStor
So far the tech industry did a pretty good job, given the cloud is taking over the world, and the most recent real-life example of big data tools put to use comes from Radley + Co. Today the London-based luxury retailer announced it has deployed FalconStor Continuous Data Protector (CDP) on its almost entirely virtualized VMware ESX Server infrastructure, which handles the massive quantities of data from the company’s supply chain and outlets.
“With Radley + Co’s London infrastructure almost entirely virtualized on VMware ESX Server, the objective was achieved by deploying a FalconStor DiskSafe™ agent on each virtualized server. The DiskSafe agent synchronizes data back to a FalconStor CDP appliance which, in turn, replicates to the DR site over a leased line.”
Server snapshots are taken every 3 hours to enable role backs to up to a week before an incidence occurred. The switch to Falconstor’s disaster recovery and backup offering reportedly came after Radley + Co’s backup window was reduced to almost zero with its traditional tap backup approach due to its expansion to the US. And, in addition to providing FalconStor with some good publicity, this update comes to show why big data tools are gaining more and more traction.
Despite a rough time last year, FalconStor is on a track for growth. This comes in the form of new – and bigger- customers, as well as a couple of new offerings the company released recently: the PartnerChoice Program and the PartnerPlace Web Portal. Aimed to maximize partners’ return on their team up with FalconStor in terms of long-term investment, probability and customer satisfaction, the new programs seem to take an overhauled approach to this ever-important aspect of FalconStor’s growth.
