Business Intelligence Gets Big Data Boost from SAP Ventures

Geographical business intelligence solutions provider Aletryx announced it has raised $6 million in funding from SAP Ventures Fund I. The investment will be used to accelerate Aletryx growth, expand go-to-market executions and support potential acquisitions.

“Alteryx is going to be a significant player in the sea-change occurring in Business Intelligence (BI) and SAP Ventures is excited to be part of this unfolding story,” said Jai Das. “The agility, flexibility and particularly unique spatial processing component of the Alteryx software makes this an opportunity not only for Alteryx customers, but investors like SAP Ventures.”

Alteryx delivers its geographical BI solution to Fortune 500 companies, and throughout a wide range of areas and sectors including the automotive, retail and telecommunication industries as well as governmental agencies.

Alteryx has been on a role lately, with a few recent developments worth noting. There was the naming of geological software & solutions provider Tango Management Consulting, LLC as Partner of the Year for the second year in a row. A short while before that, the company announced several new enhancements to versions 6.0 and 7.0 of its data modeling and analysis engine at the Inspire 2010 Conference in Broomfield, Colorado.

The BI industry has been heating up lately, in the light of numerous partnerships and product launches throughout the last 24 hours alone. That includes dashboard, reporting and data anlytics solutions provider InetSoft Technology newly revealed partnership with business performance optimization consultancy firm CampionPPS.  Inet will provide Campion its BI software, who will resell to its clients for data analytics purposes.

Moving on to a product announcement, real-time medical device inventory management software maker WaveMark unveiled the 5th version of its Clinical Business Intelligence and Real Time Inventory Management suit. This latest release comes with the addition of a user-defined dashboard and more advanced analytics enhancing the process of tracking, managing and controlling medical device inventory costs.
