Top iPad, Android Business Tablet Apps: MicroStrategy Tops the List
The app marketplace is evolving, and the office is quickly following customer trends as more and more apps surface to address business needs. This week, mobile BI app MicroStrategy tops our list.
iPad
MicroStrategy for iPad is a mobile BI app that leverages location data with some pretty good reviews, ranked in the Gartner leader’s quadrant. Administrators can share business reports, KPIs, documents and other data with employees, and users can view charts, visualizations, maps, documents, and dynamic dashboards among other things on their iPad.
Dubbed a Dropbox for the enterprise, Accellion is a storage and collaboration app that lets users securely access files stored in Accellion Secure Workspaces from their iPads. The app allows an to account holder store and then access a broad spectrum of files from the cloud, share those files with others and monitor activity in real-time.
Another BI app, WebFocus Mobile Faves facilitates the viewing and management of dashboards by providing quite a bit of options to users. One can configure WebFOCUS servers to set up secure user access to files, collaborate on BI data by sharing a “Mobile Fave” and more.
Android
The Honeycomb-optimized Trendster lets you dig into your Twitter data and isolate trends without even having to open an account. Trendster can display trends relevant to the user’s location, and lists the latest trends on Twitter with a sample collection of tweets about each topic.
The newly announced app by the security giant Kaspersky is specifically designed to protect Android tablet holders from cyber attacks. The offering for a full-sized screen and features real-time downloads scanning, web protection, a desktop security gadget and more.
Also optimized for Honeycomb, Stock Alerts features a graphical interface and all the functionalities one would want from a stock alerts app. That includes configurable alerts sent to your tablet whenever a selected company’s shares shift in price, real time quotes, a Commodities Tab and a World Index Tab.
