LogLogic, Data and Privacy
Earlier this week, LogLogic released a new generation of its software that offers a number of exciting new features. The LogLogic 5.2 software is now configurable to allow restrictions in regards to data privacy at multiple levels based on various requirements. This functionality allows for specific compliance with regional privacy requirements, commonly seen in the European Union, but anticipated to take hold here in the United States. The offering is the first of its kind in the industry.
The new data privacy feature allows administrators to show or hide information and customize the presentation of information that needs protection in their environment. Using a feature known as double-authentication data masking, the system utilizes a system of two key holders that are required for access to target information and obfuscates data where required. In addition to new policy-based retention capabilities, the system thus allows an organization to retain only the most essential compliance, regulatory, and policy information in a secure way. This minimizes risk to the organization, and maximizes the protection, and saves any excessive space requirements. The MX4020 appliance also implements forensic analysis and data warehousing features. Features of this appliance are described in the news release:
LogLogic’s new MX4020 all-in-one appliance is geared to larger customers that do not want the complexity of multi-box solutions. Combining an IT data warehouse and forensics analysis engine, it can support up to 5,000 devices, 3,000 messages per second, and up to 5TB of stored data, making it ideal for small and medium-size businesses and for regional offices of larger corporations.
Guy Churchward, LogLogic CEO states in the release:
“Today’s announcement emphasizes our commitment to improve IT Data Management (ITDM) across the board,” said Guy Churchward, LogLogic CEO. “It’s more than just collecting logs. We’re helping companies build a data management strategy that will enable them to collect and store the data they need to conform with local laws and to respect the privacy of customers and the public. More importantly, it will help improve operational efficiency overall.”
On LogLogic’s unique offerings, Churchward states:
“flexibility and scalability that medium-sized business environments demand, we introduced an all-in-one appliance that would simplify IT data management,” said Churchward. “And now larger companies are demanding the same type of all-in-one style solution for their data centers. With LogLogic, we make it possible to start small, think big, and scale fast.”
These upgrades achieve the goal of minimizing the security risks associated with collecting sensitive IT data, and also help companies make sense of the massive amounts of data they’re capturing across their networks. The operational advantage is a newfound ability to analyze this data and resolve operational inefficiencies, in addition to other logging capabilities.
Whether it is achieving compliance, managing security threats, managing risk, or operational analysis, advanced logging functions are a part of a sturdy IT framework and a critical component of a security-oriented environment. LogLogic’s leading tools and technology again lead the way in ease of deployment, scalability and features that the industry increasingly needs.
