Installing Windows 8 Virtually? Not Yet

Like just about every other Microsoft and Windows fan, I grabbed a copy of the Windows 8 Developer Preview (actually both the 32bit and 64bit) as soon as they were available for download. Of course, with the iden in mind that I would be able to have some first hand experiences to write about.

Unfortunately, the only first hand experience I have is of that cutesy new BSoD screen you’e probably seen floating around the web, and which you can see at the top courtesy of Tom Warren at Winrumors; the only problem is that it stops being cute about the third or fourth time you see it.

So it seems timely that I would run across this image today while reading my feeds. So, Mr. Clippy, you got any suggestions?

Thanks for nothing Mr. Clippy.

I have tried all three of the major virtualization programs, VirtualPC, VMware Player, and VirtualBox all to no avail. The farthest I have gotten before the installed crashed was seeing the black screen with Windows Developer Preview on it.

I’ll keep trying and looking for workable solutions, but until then I guess I’ll be like the rest of you and relying on others who have gotten it installed to share the news about any goodies.
